On Free Speech: The power of the web

This latest episode looks at the ethics of hacktivism, crowdsourcing in war zones and the right of Christians in the UK to wear the cross at work.

In the fourth instalment of On Free Speech, co-host Brian Pellot speaks to Lauren Wolfe about her new project Women Under Siege, a website that uses Ushahidi technology to crowdsource instances of rape and sexual violence in war zones. The episode also features an interview with Jillian York, director of international freedom of expression at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, on the ethics and motivations behind hacktivism in both democratic and authoritarian regimes (click here to listen to the full interview). Co-host Katie Engelhart wraps up with a discussion with FSD team member Dominic Burbidge on a case study he wrote about whether Christians in the UK should be able to wear the cross at work. And of course, a selection of some of the best interviews and events from the Free Speech Debate website.
